Oh Zombilein,

The Shuttle bus has raised its price.

It's now €7.50 for both to and from the festival altogether. This means a return ticket is included!

But the strangest thing was that the ticket included it as well. What to beleive? I don't know.

PS. I didn't pay shit, I'm handicapped :D

hey anybody knows anything about the metal train?? where can i get a ticket or something??

cheers!
Metal Train Homepage (German only)

This is basically a private train that goes from Stuttgart to Itzehoe on Wednesday and back on Sunday, with stops in a few cities (Koblenz, Mainz, Mannheim, Köln, Essen etc, I don't remember all of them). The cost of MT shuttle bus trips to and from Wacken is already included in the train ticket. And the train itself has a luggage wagon, a bar wagon and a disco wagon, basically "full service"... though it is not too cheap (was to expect, ne?) ;)

Here you get the ticket, which is then exchanged for a special MT armband (make sure to keep it throughout the festival, you will need it to get back!!).

What else I can say (as MT passenger since 2004) - its organisers DO learn with the time (as opposed to you-know-who); this year it was almost perfect. :)

Look for "Kontakt"(=contact)

There will probably be a mail address. Then you send a mail.

If not, there is always the forum to ask (the METAL TRAIN forum, that is)

Edit Piaf zegt: of course it stops/starts at Itzehoe station. It would be rediculous to end/start in Best station and you'd have to walk about 800 k's. (don't know the milage) :D

ok.. thanks both of you
No prob :)

Quark is right about the Contact section, BTW - there is an addy indeed, and I guess, it won't be a problem if you write in English (most people in the German metal scene do speak it OK).

How are you planning to use the train, I mean, where do you want to join?

From their newest infos I understand that the stations in 2008 will be - Stutthart - Mannheim - Mainz - Koblenz - Köln - Essen - Hannover - Itzehoe (many changes compared to 2004-07!!!)

the thing is.. me and my mate we tried to catch a "normal" wacken bus to itzehoe train station but it is hard! to many people for few buses.. we waited like 3 hours! and then we gave up and took a taxi..

i saw passing a few metal trains.. and decided to search more info on this.. the price isnt that much..

Er, there is only ONE Metal Train, and you'd have to leave at 4 am to catch it back from Itzehoe back to Hamburg and south.

I'd been thinking about taking it myself this year. As it left on Tuesday (arrival Wed) it'd be a great opportunity to take it, but then again, with a (handicap) guide this wasn't an option anymore.

Also the fact that I have to leave at 4 isn't an option either.

I guess, he meant the MT shuttle buses - I have no idea how many of them there were, but obviously enough to transport about 700 people from Wacken to Itzehoe in about 1.5 hours!

And yes, you're right that it is too early in the morning, but I believe it's planned this way - given the long way back to Stuttgart, so that they arrive home before the night.
