I tend to like stouts, porters, dunkel, black lager but currently because of the heat I have been into goose which is a salted sour and is about as far away from dark and malty as you can get.

I was more thinking about brands.
For example, Hoegaarden Wit (white beer), Hopus, a very hoppy beer or e.g. Leffe Brune, a dark abbey beer.

I really feel for you north americans.
It depends on where you are. We have lots of microbrews. A lot are hop heavy though.
