You don't see many countries taking over foreign prisons to torture the inmates, however. That practice is strictly American. America is known for this.

On a wholly unrelated note, if any of you fine folks happen to one day move to the US on a diplomatic assignment, and you buy a car here, please let me know! People who drive cars with special "Diplomat" license plates are immune to all traffic laws in the US, so you can park anywhere you want and drive as fast as you fucking want. Goddamn we could have some fun!

Technically, the cars are foreign territory, and the police have no jurisdiction. A couple of years ago, one diplomat was suspected of drunk driving, but refused to step out of the car, so the police had to arrange for it being towed to the embassy, driver and all.

I'm not really sure as to what ambassadors do, apart from ignoring traffic laws.
