I hope everything will happen according to plan. A lot of surgery are being postponed here because healthcare workers and not able to work (got covid). Healthy is priority #1. Not fun if you cannot sleep.I'm not sure yet.
In 8 weeks I'll know whether I'll be able to have the surgery I want, but than we still have to plan that.
Than there's still a change the surgery won't solve the issue.
And I probably will only return to wacken once I have a full proof solution that doesn't make me dependent on a machine, and thus, electricity.
I'm glad I didn't purchase a 2020 ticket.. While not being on the European continent, this involve buying a plane ticket and hotel. This increase the value of your Wacken Ticket if you cannot make it because of a pandemic (or any other world issue).. We are living in a different world now (or a new chapter ??) and you have to accept the risk if something goes berserk..I was in the same situation and decided early on not to go this year (even if it went ahead), but I left it until June to put it back on the ticket exchange as I had a feeling it would get postponed again. I have a feeling a lot of people were in the same boat. Some people on the ticket exchange who were waiting for a ticket just didn't have the time/funds to make or change vacation dates at the last minute so didn't end up going either. Poo happens. Let's see how I go tomorrow.
Oh that's so nice!I followed the Wacken open air facebook group and yes, arrival was not pretty. Some people missed their wednesday shows while being in line to get the wristband.. And while not having your chip, you cannot buy anything under a scorching sun.. This is something to think about next year. (aka, bring hat/water bottle/snack/food)
Also, I was interested to rent a campervan but after reading posts about people coming by cars, I will stick with the Train and Buses.
And yes, I'm going back in 2023! This time with my (new) brother! Why "new" ? Long story short, we met each other when our father passed (which I never met or talked) in 2016. When the father was unconscious (forced coma), he calls me saying it's the last time if you want to see him. I decided to go and I met my 2 other sisters and my brother. In the end, I'm glad I made the move. It was wonderful moment of my life (and for them too).
I can't wait to share this experience with him!
Yup. I heard also that there were big lines to the shuttle so I don't know if some people needed to wait for the next oneA lot of tickets was available. Some people was covid positive just before leaving and they were giving away their tickets. That's a bummer.. Honestly, I don't think it's an issue if you take the train/bus. The only bad review a read is the Itzehoe bus stopped 1km before the entrance. Walking all that distances with your luggage/gear sucks but no the end of the world.

Now that I'm back home and getting my work done a bit, I can talk a little bit about W:O:A now...
It looks like W:O:A is upper echelon socity's metal festival anymore. Everything is at least 5 times more expensive than last year. It should be noted that people not only come from places like Europe, all this is against the Worldwide Metal Spirit principle. It's not nice for people to pick up empty bottles after they run out of money to pay for things like food and drink.
Here fast food restaurants have started blending or replacing iceberg lettuce with cabbage because lettuce just got too expensive. Apparently the floods at the beginning of the year did a real number on the crops. It is sad to see how expensive it's getting, but so is everything else. For example here in Finland food prices have risen a lot. And then there are the gas prices...

Apparently the floods at the beginning of the year did a real number on the crops. At one point it could cost up to $12 (about 8 euro) for a head of lettuce at the supermarket...that is, if they bothered to stock any in the first place. It's not so bad now but still twice the normal price. Now for some reason there are supply issues with eggs.
And yes, the vomit inducing fuel prices...like something out of a horror film. It made me glad I was able to work from home while it lasted.
