For the train station, if the gates are working, it's a good system, just like the London Underground. Touch in or check in and the barriers will open. At the end, same thing, and you paid your journey. The point is, stations without gates, and you have to touch in or out. That's where it goes wrong!

The system on the bus is a desaster. And apart from major bus stops, like stations, you might forget to touch out. And why not a flat rate on city buses, like in London? (£1.50,regardless of how long it takes to get to your destination)

I hate the fact that you have to have 20 euro on your card for a train trip.
Even though the train trip will only cost you 1.50
So if you forget to check out, you pay 20 euro. that's 18.50 more....

Also they can track every trip you've made with the card...

Unless you have an anonymous card, which is not registered.
But remember that time cards have already been registered, even when they were paper tickets.

we have an electronic ticket system nowadays.
but in the old paper ticket days I've seen it happen a few times.

But yeay for having a good day :)

We still have both, but since I'll be using it regularly for a little while, I'll go with the electronic one. Way back in the day when I started high school, there was a separate ticket system for buses, trains and ferries. Someone finally came to their senses and combined them.

here they use the same system, but every time you change between a company you have to check out and in again, and every time you pay a starting fee...
