Moin!

I'm starting a secondment next week. I'm covering extended sick leave so I don't know how long I will be there (up to 4 months), but I also get to cover a higher paying role for someone's vacation. I'm kind of excited :D

They changed their minds and asked me to start tomorrow instead. I'm apprehensive about driving (traffic, finding free parking, etc.) so I'm going to catch the bus instead and see how that works out. Wish me luck :o

Does this have to do with the job application you recently had?
Either way, good luck! (and congrats)

Yeah, the one where I didn't go to interview. Apart from my lack of supervisor experience, that boss was otherwise super impressed with my application, and subsequently bugged me until I put in an expression of interest. This way she could officially borrow me :D I'll even get to cover the position I applied for in the first place!

so that's a thumbs up for today? :D

Have to say yes. Even the bus ride there and back was pretty good. It gave me so much more time to read with no stress of driving through the city or finding a car park. I ended up taking two buses home (rather than wait around for the one bus back) and used a paper ticket. Not long before I got off that bus (after dropping someone off), the driver walked all the way to the back of the bus where I was sitting to double check that my ticket was valid :o That's never happened to me before in my life, nor have I ever seen it done :ugly:

yeah I don't like the electronic system either... at least, not in this form.

For the train station, if the gates are working, it's a good system, just like the London Underground. Touch in or check in and the barriers will open. At the end, same thing, and you paid your journey. The point is, stations without gates, and you have to touch in or out. That's where it goes wrong!

The system on the bus is a desaster. And apart from major bus stops, like stations, you might forget to touch out. And why not a flat rate on city buses, like in London? (£1.50,regardless of how long it takes to get to your destination)
