It is when you're by yourself and the only person around willing to help you speaks no English. I've been in that situation a handful of times, and managed either to understand what was said or convey what I wanted :)

When you have to it usually works somehow. I can say all kind of things to people as long as my husband isn´t around to translate for me. :D

Where do you find these people?

I can´t find almost any people who would speak english. They all speak german even if they would be able to speak english too. And lot of people actually don´t really speak english, few words and that´s it. I must be living in a weird place or something. :ugly:

Camp A, definitely. They were a little harder to find at Headbangers Open Air, I have to admit.

Yeah. Unfortunately, it's against the Code of Conduct to tell people to go fuck themselves :o I had to sit there and figure out how to be polite about it...

i know situations like that to well...

That, I understand :)

What I heard is German is close to english just like French is close to spanish

more like french to romanian... there's a lot of difference, although they are related. and then there's dutch, sounding and reading like an insane hybrid of those two. I usually understand written dutch, i need few days to come into a feeling which allows me to understand spoken dutch, but i don't speak a single word of it myself...
