That, I understand
What I heard is German is close to english just like French is close to spanish
Sort of.
Though imho German is closer to Dutch, than English.
Dat is juist.

En hoe weet jij dat nu weer? Want ik vermoed dat dit googelduits is, en geen Nederlands, zoals ik thuis Nederlands praat!![]()

ik zeg niks.
one time, i swear, i will learn dutch. but first i will have to learn norwegian.![]()

Yeah I wish it was easy like that![]()
I just listened to Rammstein A LOT, especially when I was young; definitely got my pronunciation goingWhile I was over there, most people don't even let me practice
It's always "I want to practice my English", "I like speaking English", "here, we have a menu in English", or when I give it a go, they sit there giggling and when I ask what's so damned funny, they say "no, it's nice!"
The kitchen lady at Headbangers Open Air let me practice a little bit, and corrected me without overtly judging me

Last year, I had really good intention to learn german. I downloaded the Rosetta stone stuff but I didn't really put the effort into it.
Like Alix said, when you're on site, everyone want to speak in english and the best part, we don't speak perfectly and everyone can understand each other! That is so cool!

Tip, it's closer by then you think.
Read the German forum!!! See if you can understand it! (especially handy if you plan on doing other festivals, there's plenty of them)

They think they're so perfect 100% of the time because they have their fancy PhD
