I second him.... WTF! you cannot possibly not know Thin Lizzy! they're legends! I'm not a massive fan but I'l definitely be watching the entire set wit a few beers it'l be great to get to see them.

I posted this somewhere else but I think i've learn't something from these forums this year... all trve death metal fans seem to be really irritating brats! You're getting nervecell at some point an they're fantastic so just enjoy it! an if you dont like it i have a few mates who really want tickets so please give them away ;)

we need Death Metal bands that released more than one fucking album or an EP....

Another pathetic thing here is there are only 2 thrash bands on the bill....Testament and Whiplash...wtf

I really hope there'll be some big death metal bands within the next annoucement,
cause these bands, how big they might be, don't make me happier.
It turns to be the same with every annoucements : Heavy Metal, Heavy Metal and again.
I really don't understand what happened this year... the best metal festival in the world turns to be the best heavy metal festival. Where's the diversity that made WOA so special ? Bringing a few death metal band would make having the same headliners every two years ( Saxon, Motorhead, In Flames, Amon Amarth ) a little bit more digest.
By now, I feel totally fooled...Wacken used to be the highlight every year since 2002, but now I feel like i don't even want to go...
Please read a bit on this forum, We are actually A LOT of people who bought blind tickets feeling the same way.

I agree with you.. i think the same....
In fact.. I think, that the WOA Organizers don't read the forums (perhaps the german forums) and they don't care what the fans thinks because they have 8,400,000 euros in their bags (70,000 x 120).

To me represent a lot of money to go to Wacken (this is my third wacken) around 1800 euros (airfare, WOA ticket, travel expenses, etc..)

Yes I know, nobody forces to me to buy the WOA ticket.. i bought it because i thought that this would be a very special fest for the anniversary.... but definitively this year will be my last wacken. I will prefer to go to other european fest.... and NEVER buy again a blind ticket.. I prefer to wait to see the line up of summer European festivals and decide.

Perhaps the WOA Orga wants to change the tag of "Metal Festival" to "Heavy Metal Festival" and change the kind of audience.. I don't know...

I checked them out. An irish rock band which was popular in 70's. Why should I know them - I'm not a fan of rock from 70's. And why d'hell are they doing on metal fest? Wacken is a metal fest - right? Otherwise what is next? Bon Jovi? Reunion of Journey? Paul McCartney? With all do respect to those bands - they aren't metal. Exactly as this Thin Lizzy thing.

I don't know if you wanna say "we need more extreme acts!". If yes - I agree. I think bands like Thin Lizzy are okay at the WOA. They aren't real metal, but you can see their influence in great (metal) bands like Metallica. There are some bands like Airbourne (hard rock), but i don't care about that.

But now we have some hard / classic rock bands and we need some extreme metal bands. I like bands like Thin Lizzy, but I think the good balance of all metal genres is / was a strenght of the WOA.

I'll never buy a blind ticket again either...
I know what it might cost you to come from Mexico, I've got great friends coming every year in Europe for festivals from Honduras, we talked many times of that ...
I also know that nobody forced me to buy a WOA ticket, all I want to do, is to understand the orgas policy ...
back in 2001, we had almost the same headliners for twice as cheap ... so what does justify the ticket price increase ?
Nobody won't prevent me of thinking that we are already paying for next year ... and I really don't feel confortable with a forced faithfullness ...

So their gave influence to classical heavy metal. So fucking what? Blues music is the root of all metal, but should we invite blues bands to Wacken? Beatles were the first rockers ever and definitely without them we wouldn't have metal, but should we invite sir Paul McCartney to Wacken?

Once again - for me Wacken is a metal fest. It always was since my first time at 2002. I would never buy a ticket for classic rock fest, because it doesn't interest me at all. Thin Lizzy didn't create anything new since 1983 (their last album). A fucking 26 years!!! Why should I pay for those living fossils? Indeed, I'm interested in paleontology, but not when it comes to music. Don't we have more then enough old farters in this line-up and there are barely 2-3 bands who are from the top of the metal world, but mature and creative (as Machine Head or Enslaved for example)?

I listened to debut Heaven&Hell album. OMG, the only thing that saves it from being a total failure is voice of mighty Dio. The music is boring, primitive, no catchy melodies - it's hard to create when you are over 60. The only person who does it - Lemmy, but it's an exception since Lemmy isn't a regular human being, but a god. And last Motorhead album is being played in my car on the regular basis.

Or Saxon. I tried to listen to them... couple of their albums... I couldn't tell one song apart from another. And - boredom. I was actually falling asleep.

Running Wild - well, 30% of their stuff is energetic, singalongable, catchable. But the rest is....bleh... Anyway, ppl say they give a good show, so I will check them out.
