hehe it's just an illusion... :D:D I tried to go last year though, but unsuccessful due to money... but at least I can manage to go this year.
ah that sucks... I have to miss Testament anyway, they'll be here when I'm in Lousiana working... but other than that I'm going to a local show tomorrow, plus Kreator/Exodus/Warbringer in May.

I tried to go last year, but my friends ditched out so I saw no real purpose.

A bit off topic, what is the minimum amount of money to bring for food at Wacken? My boyfriend wants to know and I don't know how to respond to it nor do I have the patience to browse that question thread in search for the answer.

Is it just going to be split between the two of you? Also when are you getting to Wacken?

Usually there are four of us that share a camp and I think in total between all of us...well I can't remember the exact number right now but I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess it was somewhere in the 150 - 200 Euros vicinity...my memory is ever hazy when it comes to Wacken related subjects and Euros confuse me...I think I remember myself or somebody else paying 50 Euros at one supermarket trip and usually there is like two of those made, plus sometimes we eat at the festival grounds...I think, plus those guys bring a crap load of supplies for the first few days.

But if its just two people evidently it'd be less, half that maybe?

This is of course unless you count beer and liquor as food...then much much more:eek:

Edit, oh and there's one supermarket directly in the village but if you wanna walk a little bit (the supermarket gets fucking crazy sometimes) then there is another supermarket down the road some. Maybe half an hour or so walk from the main supermarket?

Ok the more I think about how much is spent on food the more confused I get...maybe I'm not the best person to ask. Everything just tends to blend into one there:o One of the guys I usually go to Wacken with made a chart of all the expenses last year and I think the year before as well but I can't seem to find it

Well, we're going on the 27th probably closer to sunset. We might just rent a hotel that day because the flight doesn't come in until like 4pm.

He's paying for himself. He's only going to have about $400 to convert to euros. He wants to make sure that's enough for food and a shirt or something. I'm going substantially overboard seeing it's my first time out of the States. The catch is we're also going to Finland for three days, which from what I've heard is extremely expensive.

I don't think he'll be picky either. He's a human garbage disposal. Worst comes to worst he'll settle with cereal bars.

And, booze is food.

Yeah I'd like to see some more black metal here. The only bands that come around here are usually more well known mainstream stuff like Dimmu Borgir, or even Enslaved (amazingly Mayhem now though). I'd love to see Immortal or some other band that almost never plays in the states or if they do skip Texas.

Yea, I noticed that. A lot have been skipping MA too, but MA is so small that it's not hard to travel to get where whoever IS playing, like NY, though it's particularly expensive.

I'd love to see Immortal, but for some strange reason I don't see it happening anytime soon. Hopefully promoters or what not of the decent black metal bands will realize that there is a big demand for the less mainstream (but much better) black metal bands in the States and send them here for a few good tours. I don't even know who to harass to get them here, but I know if harassed often the odds of a tour is higher.

I dont get that really. though we do get all the concerts here, theres not much of a metal crowd around here anymore (jersey,ny city area). we dont even have a steady mainstream rock/metal radio station unless you want to hear 70s Aerosmith or that garbage called nickleback. (no offense to Aerosmith)
That whole "indie" scene along with its crappy fashion "statements" is all you see everywhere lately.

Into the festival area.. almost any food cost around 4-5 euros (slide pizza, hot dog, pasta plate, burger, sandwich etc..) you could save some money if you buy some food in the super market in wacken town. (half mile from the fest area)

I think at least 20 missing bands TBA for the complete line up, and I'm afraid would be bands to play often in Wacken, to celebrate the anniversary together.

yea that's all the radio stations we have either... classic rock or just alternative stuff... and yea, we have a lot of scene stuff here too.

Also you have Progpower fest there in Atlanta.. i went twice, 2004 & 2005

that's true... unfortunately haven't managed to go yet, and for now I don't think I'll get to this year either.

Yes it is.... but Norway es more expensive.. brutally and obscenely expensive...i remember.. one beer and one simple ham sandwich 25 usd.

A friend told me that in Finland last year she bought a pizza to share with her family for 60USD. I don't know if that's anywhere near accurate.

The radio station issue is the same here. I just tend to stick to my cd collection or online radio. I think the closest station to metal here would be the one that plays anything and everything; you could listen to metal one song and have the next song be a rap song and that would just piss me off.

Up here we have the New England Metal Fest, but it's gone like, 90% hardcore. The few non-hardcore bands are mainstream in this region and tour here every 6 months or so anyways.
