My boyfriend are happy about them going too. I actually only recently discovered them as embarrassing as it is. I'm more than glad I got the ticket now.

I'm just impatient and I do want to see death and black metal, and perhaps some less-popular pagan metal like Managarm. I don't want to see those genres left out. I like thrash too, but all the shows I've been to for the past two months with exception of one has been thrash so I'm thrashed
out.

Hehe, we should switch places. I feel like most shows I've been to recently have had at least one folk band on the bill and so I'm really wanting to see something else right now (though I'm still excited for 'klaani and Turisas). But I agree that it would be great to see Manegarm at Wacken.

At this rate I'll just be happy if they put some decent extreme bands on the bill this year to balance out what's already there.

We've been getting more lately, but it's usually the same bands.

I haven't seen much in death, I've just been in the mood for some good black metal that isn't a stupid Hot Topic band. Haven't seen one of those yet.

we had this one day festival thing in Atlanta back in February... had 1349 and Septic Flesh for black metal, plus Alestorm, Suidakra, and Týr...
that's about the best I've seen here.

I saw Alestorm, Suidakra and Tyr in PA. Probably the best show I've been to despite the length of travel time. You know it's good when you're underage and get served booze :D

I know in St. Paul they have a festival called Heathen Crusade, but I've never had the money to go. They aren't only pagan bands either, there's a fair amount of black metal too.

ah cool...
they also have the Paganfest USA tour coming around again, and that's a really nice billing... unfortunately no Atlanta date or anywhere nearby. :(

ah seriously? sounds nice :D
doubt I could go though... even if it's cheap, I'm still short on money otherwise... need to save as much as I can for going to Europe.

Know the feeling. I should be saving, but it's the final show I can go with my crew until after Wacken. Plane trip is only like $200 though, at least it was when I saw how much it'd cost me to go to Atlanta to see Suidakra and Tyr.

And I'm serious, more happy little boozers the better.

That's a surprise. I do only once in awhile myself. The interesting thing is; most of my friends who are going don't either so if you did go you wouldn't be alone.

$200 for a single show is a bit much though.

ah sounds good... but yea, $200 plus the show itself plus other fees [food, etc] plus all the time it takes... maybe if I had that kind of money to use freely, I'd do it, but unfortunately that's not the case.

I've been missing a lot of shows recently too because of that too. When we went to PA we just had a cooler. We have to pass on a bunch of bands, but they're going to Wacken anyways so it's not THAT big of a deal.

A bit off topic, what is the minimum amount of money to bring for food at Wacken? My boyfriend wants to know and I don't know how to respond to it nor do I have the patience to browse that question thread in search for the answer.

yea I know that too... I'm considering missing a couple upcoming shows because either I've seen the band before, or they'll be at Wacken [Amon Amarth, Napalm Death]... just for the money I'll need.
don't know, I've never been yet myself :p but from what I can tell, it just depends on you personally and where you plan to get food from... like if you're going to be fine with just a burger or two every day all day, probably not much... but if you want to be eating decently, festival prices for food are typically really high, sooo you might be better off buying it beforehand in supermarkets [I believe there's one in the village of Wacken]
but you might be better off asking someone who's been before :p

I figured by your post count you'd have gone before :p

I'm missing Amon Amarth, Testament and such. Napalm Death is going to the stupid hardcore fest.

hehe it's just an illusion... :D:D I tried to go last year though, but unsuccessful due to money... but at least I can manage to go this year.
ah that sucks... I have to miss Testament anyway, they'll be here when I'm in Lousiana working... but other than that I'm going to a local show tomorrow, plus Kreator/Exodus/Warbringer in May.
