Yea, I only managed to start getting a lot of albums when I finally got a job in 2007. Before then I had to rely on my parents to buy me cds and well, they weren't all that willing to do that too often.

Well some good bands are now sold at Hot Topic, their shirts and other merch that is.

I'm not fond of most of them. The bands they sell at Hot Topic here are mostly what I call "Hail satan metal". Too much of that frustrates me because a lot of the bands take it SO seriously.

14 is a good age to get into it, my nephew was about 13-14 when he started. He went tom WOA with me last year.

My sister started stealing my cds when she was 9.

Yeah it was the same for me, not until about that age, when I was earning some money. Otherwise it was mainly Christmas and Birthdays when I got stuff. My parents did not have a problem with my music, but they did not buy things for me very often outside of those special days.

My parents didn't have a problem with it either, we were just low income and couldn't afford much. It took me 'til 2007 to FINALLY get all of Blind Guardian's albums.

Even still my collection is still kind of small in comparison.

I don't take the lyrics of the Black Metal/satanic bands seriously. A lot of that is just image and a way to gain attention and sell music. I know that some are serious about it. But most are not IMO.

Well give it time, you have many years to add to it. My CD collection has been growing since 1986. Before that I was really into vinyl LPs.

It seems it when they put on the act even through interviews and stuff. I kind of like bands where I feel there's more of a relation to reality than that.

I've got a fair amount of vinyls.

I'm almost done with my breakfast.

Vinyl is very cool, hang onto it! I still have a lot of it, though I sadly sold some back in my stupid days, to raise money for CDs. Then you're off for another adventure?

I think that's one thing I like about Thrash, most of the bands sing about real life issues, not fantasy and the devil.

To be honest though, I don't rank lyrics as a real important part of the music I listen to. I love good lyrics, but it's the music, riffs, solos, song structure, transitions etc. that I really listen to.

With important features of music, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I'm in the mood for something with complex lyrics and such, other times I really don't.
