There are some other Metal Heads here, you just seldom see them, they emerge when there's a gig. They are usually hiding under a rock it seems.

We have a decent metal scene here, just they only pop up when there's a gig. I hang out with a few of them when we have time, but it seems most metalheads are college educated and have important jobs and seldom any time :p

They're 20+ now sadly. They've been doing it since early high school. They're into it for the sake of doing something and being disliked or something.

Yeah that is sad, I don't like Metal to be outcast, I like it because it moves me like nothing else. I've been listening for sooo long that my taste crosses over most of the sub-genres, that helps keep it interesting to me.

That is true! The old Metal Heads are stupid, uneducated, unemployed, dirty, drug addicts and male between 15-20 years old gets proven wrong time and time again.

Yea, I got into it too because it was interesting and it wasn't mindless shit that I had been used to. Not to become an outcast and force myself to not follow trends. I wish there were better people around here.

I first got into it, in a limited way when I was 10 years old (don't ask me how long ago that was). My older brother was playing his Led Zeppelin LPs at home and I heard that stuff and was like WOW!!! What is this music??? I LIKE THIS, then shortly afterwards heard Black Sabbath and Deep Purple and it was the same reaction, from there on I was never the same.

I started at 14 with Blind Guardian. Though I was into a few hot topic bands at a younger age than that, but I don't consider that to be "metal" it was just me trying to find something good.

In High School I heard Judas Priest, that's when I got really into buying albums and started hunting for anything heavy I could find. Back then the scene was so much smaller so it was easier to keep track of the bands.
