And to all the German speakers - I'm taking German class at uni, but I often find myself getting lost between deine/deiner/deinem, der/den/dem/die, etc. Any tips on how I should learn the language? I'd like to be able to speak German at some point

For some reason it's easier for me to speak German with people that don't know me. For example ordering Cokes at fests and burgers from Mcdoof was no problem, I just did it in German because I felt like it. But when it comes to talking to people I know, I get really shy about it.

It's called Fälle what you're having Problems with. We got loads of them You'll just have to learn them in class I guess. There's rules to use what certain one to express a certain thing

Ich weiss es nicht.
Zu mir auch nicht. Hier in Zaventem (Flughafen) hatte ich gleich angefangen mit Deutsch (weil Landessprache) aber das hat nicht lange gedauert.

You have to LEARN the articles. Sorry
I had to do the very same. And I'm not always sure.
Especially dative and accusative are confusing point with me. (mir/mich for instance)

Thanks :] Mostly thanks to the people here actually, like Quark and Sipy. They helped me loads as I was learning the basics. And then just practicing with German on the forum helped loads.

Ah genders and cases... so much fun. Just something you have to learn and get used to using.

Mit mir nicht.
Dann ma weiter in Englisch.
Ausserdem spricht meine Frau überhaupt... nur 2 Worte Deutsch, und ist Englisch-Lizenziat (BE). Deswegen war Englisch hier einfacher für uns 3.

Doesn't matter. It's like... you guys know I can write somewhat good German. So I feel like you'll expect me to be able to speak it well too. So I'm afraid to let you down sorta.
