exactly my point, it's all a matter of personal preference, no wrong or right. To many who don't like metal, it's all just noise.

Have you ever heard of the Hard Rock band Blackfoot? Not Metal, but damned good, no keys no brass etc., but they have written some epics, check out Diary of a Working Man, total brilliance. Another in the same category, Lynryd Skynryd "Free Bird" very much epic. And not a bag pipe, horn or any type of wind instrument in site.

The thing is, even as a metalhead, it's good to like a variety of music, even within the Metal/Hard Rock category. It keeps it more interesting and keeps one from becoming burnt out with just one sub-genre.

I'll give it a listen... but yea, there's definitely some epic stuff out there that don't involve multiple instruments. Ballads from Scorpions and Annihilator for example. Free Bird's nice, though I wouldn't quite go as far as epic.
