like for me whenever my brother got a new one, I'd play it for awhile at a time but then after that first bit when I'd play through all the songs I liked and etc, I wasn't too interested in spending time on it anymore

yeah that's the other thing, you play it a lot for a while, then the thing just sits there, collecting dust, all that money spent, doing nothing. Then to keep it interesting you have to buy new games.
