It seems a lot of people I know got sick with the rona after some events on New Year's. My state went from having the second lowest deaths per capita (first place had 0 for a long time) and the lowest cases per capita, to now every conference translating to "woopsy, oh well". There's more to it...
Oh, and we have mask mandates which came into effect yesterday. This time it means I have to wear my mask the entire time in the office except when I'm eating/drinking. Woohoo...
Back at work tomorrow. 😭 It's my turn to come into the office, but 1) there's an ex-tropical cyclone hanging off the coast and I'm a little worried there might be strong winds that may break branches on my car or something (my spot is right next to a gum tree), and 2) our state leaders are...
Yeah I think the majority of cases are. It's absolute chaos for people who are lining up to get tested. We're back wearing masks and fun things aren't allowed for the unvaccinated, but no lockdowns at this stage.
Merry Christmas to everyone too!
We had a smaller gathering this year (2 relatives, two "in-laws" and a video call) and no presents outside of immediate family, but still pretty great. In regards to the plague, things are escalating quickly here so I'm just going to hope it doesn't ruin my...
Our state borders are meant to be opening up again in two or three weeks with not many rules, but I predict that will backfire in a short period. Hope I'm wrong.
I stopped watching the press cos every day (in my state) they're saying "zero new cases" and "get vaccinated". I'm sure that'll change in a couple of months.
In good news, some friends and I spent the weekend camping on a cattle farm, by the river, not too far from one of the city's major reservoirs. We did all the things I missed doing at metal festivals minus seeing bands, and unlike WOA they didn't move the cattle onto another paddock, so we tried...
Anything exciting happening in the world? Yesterday we got the news that one of the state premiers resigned (something about being the subject of a corruption investigation) and I somehow picked up 117kg in one go. That was pretty exciting. Apart from that, the media keeps trying to spin the...
Proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative covid test within 36 hours of the festival. People who left the festival grounds had to get another negative test before returning. There were rules for the vendors and I saw pictures of security wearing masks. Unfortunately 36 hours is plenty of...
Ah, so that's the definition of "a few". :( One of my mates who was lucky enough to play was unlucky enough to catch it. Luckily (according to what he's mentioned on Facebook) his illness wasn't too severe.
I have 4 weeks off work, but one of those weeks is to see my brother. These days one has to allow for a bit of wiggle room but at this stage, everything is going according to plan *touch wood*. I picked up my plane ticket today and my parents arrived there by car today as well. I'm super excited...
So the lockdown has been lifted as of about an hour ago, but we've been told to "avoid travelling to regional areas" for the next two weeks. I just want to see my brother already, but he and I only have holidays for so long. :(
Man, I could go into a massive political rant about this right now but I'll try my best not to. Basically those decisions have been delegated to the state and territory leaders for a while now. Let's just say not all state leaders have a zero covid strategy at this point in time, hence our third...
