Yea... I like today's metal too though. Especially all the Viking stuff, and the new wave of black metal [aka not Satanic/Norwegian/death influenced black metal].

being 18 in the 90's was not that fun at all
.. always wanted to go back to the 70's & 80's when things were more interesting and music was at its best

It just takes time... and money, but finding each gem, one by one is the fun thing. If I was a multi millionaire and could just buy it all quickly, it would not be the same.

well that's the cool thing about Metal, there's been great music in the 70s, 80s, 90s and now. As you can tell, i am not just stuck in the 80s. I feel for most younger metal fans, it's hard to appreciate the classic stuff, and for some older fans, they stopped following new bands after the 80s.

Yea... it's also so broad though, like just the Big 4 thrash plus the Big 3 of Germany, that's a lot of albums
So I have quite a lot to catch up on. 
yeah i like some of today's metal .. but still the old stuff are much better
well some people, not you, think that the new Metal is just Death, Black and Metalcore, they don't know of all the great Thrash, Prog and Melodic Metal that is coming out now

well it's your age, in some ways it gives you a late start, being my age I've had many years to build my collection.
yeah true .. buying one by one is more fun
for sure, though I've been known to buy 2, 3,4 or 5 at a time, Or say at the WOA Metal Market 10 or more.

MP3s and digital downloading makes it harder to find music on physical media. Many CD shops have closed and the ones that remain have much smaller selections.

the most important thing is not to get stuck in a period "like the 80's" or whatever .. and be open to all new stuff & new styles ... not all old metal is good .. and not all new is bad
