Yea... I like today's metal too though. Especially all the Viking stuff, and the new wave of black metal [aka not Satanic/Norwegian/death influenced black metal].

well that's the cool thing about Metal, there's been great music in the 70s, 80s, 90s and now. As you can tell, i am not just stuck in the 80s. I feel for most younger metal fans, it's hard to appreciate the classic stuff, and for some older fans, they stopped following new bands after the 80s.

Yea... it's also so broad though, like just the Big 4 thrash plus the Big 3 of Germany, that's a lot of albums :D So I have quite a lot to catch up on. :o

well some people, not you, think that the new Metal is just Death, Black and Metalcore, they don't know of all the great Thrash, Prog and Melodic Metal that is coming out now

the most important thing is not to get stuck in a period "like the 80's" or whatever .. and be open to all new stuff & new styles ... not all old metal is good .. and not all new is bad :D
