Why?
I just use a trailer behind the bike, to put all my things in. So... no danger.
But I guess you're not used on doing shopping by bike. It's typically Dutch to do actually. Doing a lot by bike. (and I have no choice since I'm not allowed to (and cannot) drive)

And the car drivers (here) are used to bikes in traffic, compared to the US.

so maybe now that Desert rock is canceled .. Qatar will do their own fest just to annoy UAE

Well I am a cyclist, in fact I own 3 bikes, but I have never used one to shop. A trailer makes sense, but as you said, the drivers here are not very bicycle smart or friendly.

haha well it would be something very good for the arab metalheads. Though maybe it would be much more costly to travel there for most arabs since I believe you must fly there?

It's all a question of mentallity.
In the US one does almost everything by car. (even going to an ATM) where here the distances are way smaller so a bike is sometimes more usefull than a car.

And if you go e.g. to Wallonia (which is still Belgium), you'll see that more people use a car, and less use a bike.
In Flanders this is also the case, but you'll see more people cycling though.

It is a rather small country, though much larger than Bahrain. Of course Hawaii is much smaller as well.

Just from here to Wacken or so. (in time comparison)
Though it'll take longer to go by air as the nearest airport would be Eindhoven, Brussels, Charleroi (called Brussels South) or Schiphol (Amsterdam) and only to Hamburg or Lübeck.

Well in some areas, like New York CIty, there are many bike messengers, many people ride bicycles here for fun and fitness, not many use them for travel to work and shopping. It's too bad that we don't cycle more here, but it is not flat here, hilly and mountainous in many areas so not every one is in condition to travel far.

not bad at all, I rode the bus from Trier to Wacken last year and it took 11 hours.

Of course it made stops along the way.
