Heh heh heh. I am wasting time at work reading this incredibly long thread, listing to Virgin Steele, Gamma Ray, Rage, Sentenced, Manowar,Evergrey, Iced Earth, Helloween, Kamelot, Judas Priest....

I love having heavy metal on my work PC, with a sub woofer!
Currently listening to Iced Earth cover "Dead Babies"

If you plan to stay at the festival area I would really recommend you to bring your own tent and a sleeping bag, unless you're planning to rent a car or something else that you can sleep in.

Or if you could manage to find someone that has a big enough tent and spare a place for you.

Is seems that it is a rule that it will rain on festivals, so I would not recommend you to sleep "under the stars" so to say.

Regarding what alcohol that is sold, it's mostly beer but I do sort of remember a whiskey stand as well, but I wouldn't swear to it.

If you do bring your own bourbon, you may pour it into a "Wacken mug" before you enter the festival grounds, but you may not bring the bottle. At the camping grounds you may have as many bottles as you like though :)

Cash is always good, you'e bound to find something cool to buy that cost a shit load of money and to come with a credit card don't work that well. The line for the money machine is really not worth experiencing either.
This year I had to go and get money, I think I spent about two hours in burning sun before I got up to the machine, missed almost all of Immortal due to it as well.

There has been other Aussies at Wacken though, even some that hang out at the forum from time to time, you might get more answers from them.

Cheerz.

Hi Metalheads!

I am an Aussie, intending to go to Wacken 2003.
This will be my first time. I do not know anybody who has been.

But for me, Wacken is everything I have ever dreamed of seeing! I love Power Metal - more than anything!!

So to see bands like Gamma Ray, Rage, Blind Guardian, Manowar, Stratovarius has been like, a life long dream.

But I do not know what I need to bring. I will of course like to camp at the festival. But do I need to buy my own tent? I'll probably have my own sleeping bag by then.

Is beer the only alcohol sold? Should I bring my own bourbon from Australia? (I dislike beer. Not very "metal" I know, but I make up for it in personality)

I will try and find this post again later to read any followups, but if you'd like to talk directly to me via email, please feel free to do so.

Death to false metal. Hail and Kill!!

One more Aussie!!! :D:D

Brat is also from Sidney, ask her, she came to Wacken last year

Apart from beer you have some delicious viking stuff, and there was Whiskey inside the festival area, but it might probably be too expensive (but I don't know, I didn't try it).

Greetings!!
