Well the airport information desk was really helpful and they told us everything we needed to know (at 12 at night!).
We got an airport shuttle bus to the train station in Hamburg(I forget the name of that station).
We then ran to the furthest end of the station to get the second last train to Itzahoe(there was another train at 2am i think).
The train journey took over an hour.
We then got to Itzahoe at around 1.30/2.00am.
As we got off the train there were also loads of other metalheads getting off to, so we decided we were going to get out of the station as fast as possible.
We then were among the first out of the station but there was no sign of any shuttle bus.
We (two of us) grabbed another 2 people and we go a Taxi out to Wacken.
They seemed to be charging a flat rate of 25e out to Wacken.
That was fine,6.25 each. We were in the festival area and setting up out tent(in darkness) within 30 mins.
I intend to repeat this process next year!
PS I dont know anything about Itzahoe other than the location of the station .
..but who knows yet!..Im gonn start saving some cash next month!
