Zombi, big week for you in Scotland. September 18th, Referendum

There's a lot of articles in almost all of our local newspapers. We got a lot of interest about it because we had 2 referendums in the past : 1980 and 1995. In 1995, it was soooo close :
YES : 2,308,360 (49.42%)
NO : 2,362,648 (50.58%)

I read this morning that the latest survey is 60% yes... but still 3 days before the vote.

It sure is! Should be interesting. I don't know where you're getting the 60% number from since most polls suggest it's too close to call.

so, why is it that people want to break away from canada? just the language or is it more than that?

It sure is! Should be interesting. I don't know where you're getting the 60% number from since most polls suggest it's too close to call.

Language is a big one but also, we don't share the same values as the ROC (Rest of Canada). There are more on a USA-like model than having our own identity.

Just to give you an idea, in the federal parties, we have one that is mainly for us (Bloc Québécois). Who do you think is voting for them to represent Canada ? We always been the black sheep I'm pretty sure that Harper (current prime minister) want to create a referendum to kick us out of the country , lol

I think it's a dangerous precedent, if Scotland were to become independent. Not that I support/disapprove of it, it's just that some Belgians to become independent as well, which is, for such a small country, dangerous, especially if a so called majority wants to become independent, for the same reasons Darkfang just mentioned.
