Well, first measures against corona have been lifted.
Fabric shops can open now. Face masks are compulsory in Belgian stations, trains, and other public transport, and it's running back normally.
However, despite the fact I like going by train, I will avoid any train ride for the time being, until complete end of the lockdown. (and first trip will probably be Luxemburg!)
For now, I'll stick at home.

Yep.
Friend of mine lives in MD. Same story there. (Baltimore, of all places!)
People going nuts because they have to stay INSIDE! (for their own safety) And a president who's apparently eager to get it himself, as did Boris Johnson (British PM), 'cause they thought "it's just a flu". Yeah right!

Be careful out there!

Getting ugly here in the Bay Area. Coming to the end of
Day 57 into the shelter-in-place. California is supposed
to be following this "Four Stage" model for going back
to "normal" alongside Washington and Oregon.

Normal... after the last couple of weeks, normal seems
a bit of a ways off. Anyone imagine how a mosh pit is
gonna work in a "Post Covids" concert experience?!!
Emocore kids spin-kicking and hardcore-dancing at least
six feet apart?!! Instead of circle pits and stage diving
we'll all be condemned to the safety dance! lol

Had my birthday in early April, instead of going to NYC
for the weekend as I planned, I was stuck drinking alone
in the garage. About two weeks later was when they
officially pulled the plug on W31. Fortunately, I was
able to pick up the new "Doom: Eternal" back in March
before everything was shut down.

When everything did get shut down, they were still
letting people into grocery stores without masks. I already
had a bug-out kit in storage I put together a couple years
back from all the fires we've been having over here
recently. Granted, I put that kit together in case of more
fires or another quake, just having the particle masks and
sanitizer already packed in there was great. By then, a
lot of places were either sold out or price gouging.

A month ago, before the state made wearing masks
mandatory, I was one of the only people under the age
of 65 wearing a mask and gloves in the store. People were
not practicing social distancing, employees were not
wearing masks or gloves. Last straw came when I saw an
employee stocking the cereal aisle sneeze twice without
covering their mouth. I turned around and walked out
without buying anything. Haven't been back to that store
since. On the flip side of that, stopped at a gas station
on the way home and the clerk was wearing gloves and a
mask.

Besides that, seen plenty of public displays of shitty
behavior. A couple cussing matches between clerks and
customers. Few fist fights over trivial shit. Civility was
already on the way out in the U.S. even before all this
quarantine crap started. Turn on the TV and see grown
adults in positions of power in government, unable to
agree on how to respond without getting into another
Republicans vs Democrats pissing contest. That orange
moron telling us back in March that they've got it under
control and that it'll be gone by the middle of April.
Whenever the president says something stupid, I think
of John Goodman's character from the Big Lebowski
yelling at Steve Buscemi "Shut the fuck up, Donnie!!!"

Sad that Wacken isn't happening but it's not like they
really had a choice. Put the pandemic aside, a lot of
folks now are out of work, which means they're all
broke. Without any bread to pay the rent, the
unsympathetic slum lord evicts you from your pad. I'm
okay where I'm at for the time being. However, the
high cost of living in the state means a lot of my friends
are either trying to sleep out of their rehearsal studios
or cars. Despite California's counter culture history
from the 60's, this state is not a nice place to be if
you're homeless. Even harder to get back in doors
when someone does fall on the streets. I have friends
that work in San Francisco making $25 an hour and
they still have to couch-surf.

All in all, hope everyone is keeping safe and staying
as healthy as can be. Even if they do allow shows to
resume in the Bay Area, I'm not in a hurry to attend.
Cabin fever is getting to me, only so much of Xbox
and Netflix I can do. I'll get out for bike rides to
exercise, avoiding public transit for obvious reasons.
Thankful that cannabis clubs and liquor stores were
declared essential businesses 'cause I probably
would've lost my shit by now! lol

I'll still aim for Wacken next year. Hopefully Mercyful
Fate and Venom are still on the bill. Sodom better
still do their Agent Orange set!! Already dreaming of
my first pint upon returning to the campgrounds.

Tomorrow, new deconfinement rules.
The so called contact professionals can start again. (Whereas in the Netherlands, they're already busy) and schools are operating again.

Next stop is most likely to be June 8 with the opening of the borders of the neighbouring countries (NL, D and L).
Possibility to visit my family in the Netherlands again!!!
