There's plenty of demand for MBAs in the country, so local jobs are rather easy to come buy. As far as pay numbers go, I'm inclined to go with "barely ok" as a reply. But according to statistics, I am in the top 0.2% in the country, so... :S

It's not so much that I get paid really well. Just that the rest of the country gets paid really low. (60% of the country earns less than 2$ per day)

That sucks :(
Apparently our family is making double the 'average' here but we're no where near 'rich' or even comfortable for that matter - of course we have been to Europe twice in the past 4 years so..ok maybe were doing alright :o

If I apply World banks PPP index to the numbers then i'm also earning comfortably above EU average. The problem is that it doesn't translate well at all if and when I venture outside the country. Everyday goods and services are pretty much an order of magnitude more expensive.

I mean, I have hired this lady who cleans the house, does the dishes, washes and irons the clothes daily and asks for about 12 Euros a month in return. :|

I don't think that service will cost anywhere near 12 Euros anywhere in Europe.

You're doing well! I haven't been to the Americas 2x in 4 years! Just ONCE, and that was 11 years ago!

(OK, I do little EU trips)
Yes, yes. I am aware and that is the plan, respectively. I hear there is an acute workforce shortage in Norway :D
Norway is very expensive! Mainly 'cause everything that you like is heavilly taxed. (tobacco, alcohol etc. I mean).

12€ per what? Per hour? That's more likely here. But 12€ a month is way underpaid!

We don't have 'little' trips here so we just save up to do something big - I don't have a house so it's not like I own anything either. We are trying to save for a house now but realistically we may never be able to afford it if the rates go too far up (which they are heading for now).

12€ / hour IS underpaid here.. The cleaning people charge closer to 25 € / hour.

If there weren't so many people and I had any idea how to speak Indian I could probably have a really nice inexpensive visit there!
