Frankly, if I have to choose between Rotterdam or Amsterdam, I prefer Amsterdam. Except for the station, where I prefer Rotterdam CS.

Went there last year, but had to change trains there. (Went to Leer, Germany, through Roosendaal, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Zwolle, etc)
And the year before there I got stuck there due to NS constructions.
But as you said, don't like the city either. A bit, say, agressive! Don't know!
