I wonder how it helps them that people register their medication that they depend on... Like do they give some note or something to show on the security checks when they see those in their bags/pockets...

To me it sounds like they aren't allowed to take them with them in their bags/pockets. And they'll have to go to the red cross to use them.
So maybe the regitration is just so they could find your medication back?

But they can't take every medication away from people... Like if you have diabetes for example or if you are really allergic and need to have epipen with you at all times...

So the registration is so they can allow people to take their bags that they need due to illness etc with them. And seems they only keep syringes etc, so normal medication you can just keep. And I'm sure epipen isn't one of these that they will keep for you since if you need epipen, you need it immediately.

StrungOut84's friend got that last year and I think it did the job well too. Next time, I will buy a pair of these because walking in cheap rubber boots all day is not fun at all!!
