I got most of it back with my travel insurance (the difference being in the exchange rate when converted back to $$), but with all the hoops I had to jump through, I was better off dealing with it when I got home. I blew a week's budget that day

Point is, for medications, you will have to pay the full price anyways, and reclaim them afterwards, as the pharmacy can't work with foreign insurances anyways. Most hospitals can't either. (I vaguely remember us going to the hospital in the US, and communications with insurances from the US and Belgium) "We've had a phone call from Paris, it's OK".
Er, yeah.
