yeh i'm very happy wit the line up i can pick more than 20 bands i'm looking forward to off it, jus hoping for the black stage to get a boost, Immortal would be great or Nile Behemoth or something, maybe even arch enemy (know they're a bit tame but still good band!), but we'l see i'l watch the bands i like on the bill an spend the rest of the time drinking with my mates, an which ever fine people i meet while i'm there.

Bringing 2 wacken virgins from UK with us this year an they both only know about 3-4bands on the line up lol so it'l be interesting for them, they're used to nu-metal type fests like Download in UK.

Behemoth will not be playing

For me personally - it might be.

Do you realize that this sounds a bit funny when putting it to the background of what this prick(Ahamaniblabla, you know who I mean) said?

If you fight his hate with the same hate - you´ll give live to his stupid sayings.

Belive me, there are enough arabs who are not such asses. Don´t hate a whole race, just because of some mentally degenerated beings - it would make you a racist, too.

And finally: racism doesn´t end well.
I know that, I´m from germany - we have made our experiances...

and WE might end up to regret that.

Yea, we might, and I'm trying to be optimistic that it will still improve. It's kind of sad that they seem to care more about expanding themselves than taking care to please the people who had enough faith in the festival to buy the ticket blind without any knowledge of the lineup at all. In this economy, for that to sell out like that is nothing short of impressive. People are usually careful what they buy when things get tight and there's no clear certain end. It's really going to harm them in the long run, and at very least they won't be rated as the #1 festival this year unless those 20 or so bands are VERY impressive.

Hopefully like what's already been said, real black metal acts will be added. Some good death metal too that the average person has heard of. And, while I'll give Arabic death metal a chance, I still would prefer something a bit less unusual (no I'm not saying that to be racist, I'm stating fact, it really isn't common!)

Yes, definitively is the worst line up ever made.......

Last year around 300 mexican metalheads went to wacken (me included), and we do not mind having paid 1250 usd (around 1000 euros) for airfare plus travel expenses.. most of them (me included) have bought ticket for this year, thinking would be a HUGE metal celebration... ..

Let's be Honest... Before the first announcements of 20th aniversary, someone thought that the rest of the billing would be a shit?
I am sure most of metalheads thought would be a memorable celebration
None of us thought that the 20th anniversary would be a shit.

Perhaps you say, sell the ticket.. but that is not the problem. The problem is the flight ticket, many of us, bought the flight ticket few months ago (to save around 30% in the airfare) and as you know, the flight tickets are not refundable. :(

That's the same problem my boyfriend and I have; airfare. Sure, we could spend 6 days in Germany no problem with plenty to do; but I'd rather go see good bands at Wacken.

You spent about what I did on airfare.

I might be wrong in this assumption but doesn't Mexico have lower wages than they do here in the States? I mean, if that's the case to be able to round up 300 people, that's impressive. I could be wrong with that, just the media lately in my state seems to be focused on the negatives for people in Mexico and I don't doubt much of it is exaggerated.

I mean if anything the organizers should see how much effort it takes to go to these things. They might not have to worry so much seeing each one of them probably have at least a million USD after 20 years, not that I have a problem with it, but some people get blinded and it appears they have been.

There are definitely many many more people out there (who do not even post on these forums) that are in the boat as you guys...People expecting this to be the BIGGEST FUCKING METAL EVENT OF ALL TIME secured their Wacken tickets along with airfare/other travel expenses/hotels/etc and now what!?

Yes, there are definitely some great bands playing this year that I am very much looking forward seeing but this is NOT an event that is worthy of the 20th Anniversary of the very best metal has to offer...

yes, we have lower wages than the States, also, the cost life is cheaper (one beer = 0.64 usd in supermarket, 1.20 usd in a bar :)). Mexico has 100 millions habitants, half of them lives in poverty, but the another half not. This year will be my third time in Wacken and my sixth time in Europe. The media almost always focus in the bad news, and tend to exagerate and create prejudices in people... Here if you have a careers and work hard, you can live well enough.

Exactly!, But they do not mind, this year is the third or fourth fest sold out in advance, they have their bags full of money.... who cares what the metalheads thinks!!!

i doubt that the next year will be sold out, at least not in advance

Perhaps this year would be my last time in Wacken, next years i will prefer go to other festivals...

The exaggeration tends to be the case. I was starting to believe that Mexico was some poor third world country with really nice beaches for the most part with the exaggerations and the horror stories I had heard at school from kids of illegal immigrants. I prefer to get my information from people rather than the media, but sometimes the truth is hard to come by lately. Thanks for clearing that up.

They might sell out in advance next year and for a few more years. It is Wacken after all. Nearly every one of my friends wants to go. Not to mention the lineup does appeal to a fairly large amount of people even now. It usually takes more than one incident to affect a company's sales. It might not be money with them totally either. Perhaps they've just had too much alcohol over the years and lost touch with reality over the years. It's not like it's difficult to happen.

Personally, I'm going to leave it up to the experience to decide whether or not I'll be going again. I don't think there will be a dull moment for me, I'm easily amused and there will be beer involved. Though, I'll just remember not to lock into airfare next time regardless of where I go until there are lineup announcements.

I do think it's possible that they're doing this on purpose. There are what? 45 bands listed as it stands? That means about 30-40 more bands to go. I don't see there being any logical reason to not be optimistic still for something worthy of a 20th anniversary. Though it's not like those with everything locked in have much of a choice.

Ahmanishithead just another drop in the sea. Man, for do not trust an arab/muslim is on the level of instinct of self preservation. I believe that none of you relatives or friends wasn't killed/injured in terrorist attack or in the warfare. Anyway, this isn't the place to talk about it. If you wish so - meet me at camping ground and I'll tell you all about it.
