Hey !

It's actually not so easy to find camping material in Hamburg (lived 4 years there) for that you can go to Karstadt Sports in Monckebergstr. (its really close from the central station) and for the rain boots you probably will be able to find some in most of the shoes shop at the end of Monckebergstr (close to Jungfernstieg) in a mall call Europa Passage.

If you dont find anything though dont panic, you can buy almost everything at the small OBI shop directly in Wacken they have small tents, seats, towels and a lot of other things too...

But if you can, try absolutely to get the rain boots in Hamburg. If you can move a bit or are planning to visit North Germany especially Bremen I very highly recommand you to buy everything you need in Decathlon in the mall wers Primark is. This shop has excellent products at an even more excellent price.

I didn't even realise germany had Decathlon shops.
Bur those over pretty much anything you need for a camping trip.

Yes there are some Decathlon in Germany unfortunately very few... And as someone said the quality of products you find in "Baumarkte" is miserable (once bought a sleeping bag there whose zip broke after the first use...and it wasn't even cheap...) :/

that is pretty crappy indeed... nice way to start the vacation too :ugly:

Indeed !! :ugly: lucky me it was the sleeping bag of my boyfriend ha ha ha ! :ugly: My Decathlon sleeping bag is on for its 6th Wacken and our tent the 4th (both tents survived last year crash test without a leak)

Sorry for the digression, Im gonna ask some money to Decathlon for being their faithful saleswoman :p

Good to know decathlon has good stuff.
I've never bought anything there, since the closest shop is still a bit to far for me :p

G'day from Down Under! Aussie newbies making the pilgrimage to Wacken

Hello All,
My husband and I are making our first trip to Wacken this year!
Location: Melbourne, Australia
Ages: 28/29 (Celebrating our birthdays in Germany!)
Bands to see: Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, Gloryhammer, Bullet for My Valentine, Dragonforce, Devil Driver, Testament, Tarja, Eluveitie, Red Hot chilli Pipers and many many more!

We are pretty well organised and just finalising our plans. We do have a few questions for anyone who may wish to fill us in.
1. Breakfast tent - what is it exactly? Is it a place to buy breakfast or facilities to cook?
2. Availability of ice to cool drinks at your campsite? Can you buy ice at the supermarket on site?

We have our campsite all organised through one of the rent your tent companies. We were very impressed by this service! Awesome idea! We are looking forward to meeting many new people, we will be hanging our Aussie Flag on our tent, if you happen to walk past, feel free to say hi and have a drink with us!

Hello and welcome! :)

The breakfast tent is a place to buy your breakfast, not cook anything yourself. There are at least sandwiches and that kind of stuff.

I'm not sure about this but there might be some ice at the village supermarket. Maybe someone else can answer this?

at the breakfast tent you can buy breakfast stuff, like coffee and breakfast rolls and stuff like that.

I think you can get ice, but I haven't bought it myself so I'm not sure.

There are always lots of Australian flags. so it might be hard to find you that way :p
Also, I think most europeans don't know the difference between an australian to a new zealand flag :D

welkom!
Maar laten we eerlijk zijn, jij vertrekt gewoon vanaf de Duitse grens :p

en volgens mij bedoel je een PM, in plaats van een PB :)
