Well, it's not that I won't enjoy having a drink with you, it's just that we won't have the same drink! Though that's not possible this year.

As to banana beer, it's a beer as any other beer, just with bananas in it. The Belgians drink cherry beer (kriek), and I know a local brewery that makes strawberry beer. Yammie! :p

Ah thats true but you never know :) yeah but iv a feeling this wont be my last Wacken :D
ohhh!! Cherry and strawberry beer sounds glorious! Maybe i have been missing out hahaha!

Not really just never really had the urge to get one. Iv had a banana beer before which was great but i dont class that as "beer" beer. However i will be trying some at Wacken as theres no better place to start. :)

Bananabeer actually sounds awefull to me haha

I personally think its better to start at a local ale pub near your home :p
At wacken you usually only drink cheap beer,or becks.

It was surprisingly nice, but i could be due to my love for pina coladas :p

Ah fair enough, any i should try when in hamburg or any you would recommend in general?

I'm actually with you on the 'no beer' thing, never really got used to it. Nothing beats a Gin Tonic on a hot summer day anyway.

BTW, cider does exist in Germany, it's called "Ebbelwoi", meaning apple wine. But only in the middle and southern regions with borders to France, Wacken is way too far north for it.

Well there are so many, it al depends on your taste i guess.
But when its hot and sunny any weissbier (also called weizen) would be nice.
Those are a bit sweeter i guess.
But Basicly you wanna drink what the locals are drinking i guess.
I got some special feelings with dithmarscher, but thats due to the fact i have history in the region where it is brewed.
It's a brand so they have some different kinds of beer, pilsener, urbock, maibock dunkel, urtub(if i remember correctly) so i guess you just have to taste and figure what you like best.

Hmm guess i could have a beer tasting weekend this summer and see what i think, I will have to see if i can find some that you mentioned to give you feed back :D

Isn't that also called "Apfelschörle" or something like that? I do think it's non alcoholic, but it isn't just apple juice, as it has bubbles in it as well.

Hahaha...i have visions of me taking loads to Wacken and wondering why i dont feel drunk yet very refreshed haha! :D
Hopefully there's an alcoholic one to suit my needs.

Well most of those types of beer are hard to find outside of germany.

Though there's always the Internet of course :p

If it was non-alcoholic, I don't know what killed me that one night I saw Trollfest and Finsterforst down south! ;)

No, seriously: Agresionpower is right - Apfelschorle is apple juice with sparkling water, Ebbelwoi or Apfelwein (noone says that!) is cider, with usually 5-7%. You'll get Apfelschorle everywhere, but Ebbelwoi or any form of cider is pretty unusual up north.

Damn! i wish there was some sort of cider, guess vodka and rum will do till i make my mind up over beer :)
Or unless i manage to find a source when im over, me shouting "Apple wine!?!?!" at every shop i pass haha! :D

Guten tag, fuckers.

Metal: If it sounds like it's from the 80s, I'm all over it. Can't get enough of the retro 80s heavy/speed style. Also enjoy the old school DM sound with a smattering of black thrashy-sounding bands.

Beer: Ideally, the kind with alcohol in it. From tepid piss-water to the super-fancy hoppy IPAs you non-Americans can't have any of =), I will indiscriminately imbibe all styles. I snub my nose at no beer. Same with hard liquor, there's none I won't drink.

Wacken: 1st time. I'm beyond elated. Sadly it's only me. At the time the line-waiting for tickets occurred, the one friend who would have came just didn't have the money for it. Regardless I can't wait for this. There's nothing stateside like this and most likely won't be for a long time. After Wacken I'm also planning to spend 3 weeks backpacking in the area. Still working on the itinerary, I'm thinking at the very least I want to hit Belgium/Netherlands/Austria/maybe Switzerland.
