Who could be the top act for the Black Metal Stage???
2008 was Gorgoroth
2007 was Immortal / Dimmu
2006 was Celtic Frost / Emperor

2009?

I'm hoping for Immortal again.

Zeppelin?? would be killer, but i think... is a dream... almost impossible, After the London concert in 2007, Robert Plant don't want more gigs....

I'd hope not... plus when you look at how big that show was, we'd just end up with a bunch of Zeppelin fans killing to get tickets that are already sold out...
I mean I like Zeppelin, but I'm not sure them at Wacken would be the best idea.

In the other thread Darkthrone has been mentioned as the possible band confirmed on Friday, since they already used the "LAST SHOW FOREVER" slogan in 2004. http://www.bloodchamber.de/news/2004-02/1321/

Thus, these are the possible bands we have so far:

Darkthrone
Emperor
Voivod
Van Halen
Running Wild
Accept
Led Zeppelin

Any other ideas? Let's play the guessing game, this is fun! Just remember that they have to play a show called "LAST SHOW FOREVER" and that they have to be a "Top Act" (whatever that means).

Let's guess and see who's right

I don't think so, i've read in other thread that Satyr and Holger (WOA organizer) hate each other:

satyricon wont play anymore at wacken

Voivod are one of my al time favourite bands but I wouldn`t really call them a "big act". I`m pretty sure they`re planning on carrying on anyway after this album.

Venom...I love to bits but they sucked at Hellfest last year. Not the same without Mantas in the line up.

Must admit, the line up is disappointing me this year...may end up selling my ticket as finances are tight. I like

Amon Amarth
Enslaved
Gamma Ray
Heaven and Hell
In Flames
Korpiklaani
Napalm Death
Nevermore
Testament
Whiplash

10 bands And a couple of them are just OK :( There are normally 20-30 I`m keen for on the Wacken bill. And Whiplash aside I`ve seen all of these a bunch of times before. It`s just not worth the money / effort when the likes of Hellfest and Metalcamp have such awesome line ups. Hell, even our own native Bloodstock is better than Wacken this year!

How can it be Voivod if orga said it will be the band's Last Show Ever, yet Voivod got more shows after Wacken is done...

Im guessing Running Wild. It's gotta be a band that hasn't toured in a while and is coming back to do one last show.

Sorry for my ignorance... but i never heard Machine Head.
Are they good enough to deserve one of Top Act Slot?

If you enjoy shitty, talentless groove metal with even shittier, more ridiculous lyrics. Overall shitty band and no not deserving a top act slot.

I don't think so, i've read in other thread that Satyr and Holger (WOA organizer) hate each other:

If they were to play they wouldn't necessarily have to be backed by Frost and Satyr, so it shouldn't matter the relationship between Satyr and Holger.

I doubt that it's Darkthrone, personally, but I wouldn't say no to them;) Plus the original reason for Nocturno wanting to play live that year was to commemorate Quorthon's death, so doubt it'd happen again.

Also hoping its Running Wild. Van Halen would be disappointing as fuck.

oohhhh now I understand why I had never heard before ;)

What happened exactly between Holger and Satyr????

Yes but Fenriz refuse to play alive.. i don't know why

Also hoping its Running Wild. Van Halen would be disappointing as fuck.

I Like Running Wild, but i think is not enough big to be the Top Act in the 20th anniversary...IMO

I agree. Just because once they said that Machine Head was a "Top Act" and disappoint many people, we can let them get away with it again. If they promised us something big on Friday, they should give us something big, something that makes us proud to have bought the ticket before they sold out.

From the bands that we have in the list, and taking into account that Darkthrone and Zeppelin are almost impossible, I would say that IMO seeing Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth on a stage would make it all worthed, let's not forget is the 20th Anniversary, they should give us something to remember.

Also, let me add another band to the list that may tour this year for the last time: Pretty Maids. I don't consider them a Top Act either, but who knows what Wacken means by Top Act anyway:

Darkthrone
Emperor
Voivod
Van Halen
Running Wild
Accept
Led Zeppelin
Pretty Maids
