Metal beginner needs help

lol, yeah I noticed that. "Soon enough you'll be listening to Amon Amarth" made me chuckle too, as if they're an extreme band or something.

well, they are good, but not very extreme indeed
though I think their older work is way heavier then their new stuff.

oh, and nobody dropped the old school metal bands like, judas priest and iron maiden yet, you might like them, just old school heavy metal.

I started listening to Metal with Bands like Nightwish, too. I think it's a good idea to start with Power Metal. HammerFall, Sonata Arctica etc. Or you try the classic and big Metal Bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. Don't think it's the best thing to start with Thrash, Death oder Black Metal
