There would be no problem in Germany if you want to speak english.
Two years ago, I was better in german than in english, so I spoke german.
Last year, my german had become rather worse than before, I wanted to speak german but people answered me in english.
This year, I should increase my german since I go one or two months to Berlin.

*"Prost" = cheers, good health ! Say that before drinking.
*"Eine Wurst, bitte...vielen Dank" = a sausage, please...thanks a lot.

here are some more phrases:

Hmm, even though I am German, I felt a bit like being not after the festival... On my way home I firstly just didn´t stop speaking English anymore without recognizing it (another thing I forgot to stop was throwing garbage simply right behind me whereever I stood but in this point people´s reactions soon helped me remind ordinary world´s behaviour pattern... )...
@the guys: if grunting and at-tent-pointing doesn´t work out well or if the girl´s still a little stubborn, maybe try with
"Du hast so schöne Augen!" (*getssick*) -> "You´ve got so beautiful eyes!" or
"Ich kenne den Sänger von Edguy/AngelDust/...!" -> "I know the singer of ....!"
But I really don´t know what kind of girl you´ll get with that...

yes, corpse paint would hide a lot... and a tent at night isn´t a bright place anyway. just waking up the next morning when sweat has washed away the paint might be somewhat scary...

Nothing! but I've spoken it all my life (even before English) so it doen't feel like I know a second language. I know it sounds weird. I take it for granted that I can speak 2 languages, but it doesn't feel like I've worked to learn the language like someone in Germany would for instance learn Spanish..
