Anyhow, changes for my area:

- Remove "The Depot" in Baltimore, Maryland - it's no longer a metal club. No sooner did I email that one to you then Mr. Whiskey decided to hightail it out to Austin, Texas, so no one's booking metal gigs there anymore.

- Add a website for "The Ottobar" in Baltimore - www.theottobar.com.

- Add "The Sidebar", also in Baltimore (218 E. Lexington Street - Baltimore, MD 21202 - 410-659-4130 - www.sidebartavern.com). "Neat little pub just a few city blocks from Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Like most venues in this area, it's mostly punk, with some metal shows as well. Great beer specials!"

Add two venues for Richmond, Virginia:

- The Nanci Raygun (929 West Grace Street - Richmond, Virginia 23220 - 804.353.4263 - www.nanciraygun.com). "Mostly a punk venue, the Nanci Raygun often hosts some killer underground metal shows as well."

- Alley Katz ( 10 Walnut Alley - Richmond, VA 23223 - 804.643.2816 - www.alleykatzrva.com). "Richmond's best live rock club. They do a little bit of everything here, metal included."

Of course, at the rate venues around here come and go, who knows how long any of these places are going to last? :(

hell, you posted this 2 months ago and NOW I manage to update all the US stuff
Though the US are the last country, then I´m done, YEAH!!!! :)

Maps would be very, very helpful! Even something as simply as links to Mapquest or other map sites. That's particularly useful in a confusing city like, say, London.

ah, ummm, now I know why you want maps :D You Americans seem to be pretty spoilt when it come to maps at websites, arent´you? :D ;) There are maps on nearly every US website I´ve checked... strange habit :D ;)

yeah, I guess we're strange in that when we hear or read about a really cool place to hang out, we like to be able to find it too. ;)

yeah, of course, thats not a bad idea - what I meant was just that it was really noticeable how much info those US pages provide compared with most other countries ;)

So anyway, you had this idea with mapquest which is indeed not bad - but if there were such a map / route planner website in english which had maps of the whole world´s cities it would be so cool - does anyone know if there is something like that?
It doesn´t make much sense to link to different map pages for every country, because usually they are in the countrie´s language too...

thx, I´ll see concerning the maps... first I have to get the whole thing online at all....

well, yeah, I am okay - actually I had been really fine, but now my flatmates (who also are still telling how nice it was when you were staying here ;) ) seem to have serious problems in their relationship and I´m a bit afraid I might be homeless soon...
Say hi to Malin anyway! :)

Mapquest at one point had maps of most of Europe...I remember even pulling up a street map of Wacken at one point, but I can't seem to find it on their website anymore.

I don't think there is such a "unified" map site for the whole world, or at least, it's a well-kept secret. Even copies of the map graphics from local map sites (like the Swedish one gnoff offered) would be helpful.

What would also be cool is if people could provide a small JPEG photo of the front of the actual building... helps to know what to look for!

yes, checked their page too, but it did only know 6 or 8 cities with the name "Hamburg" in the US :D

I also think such a site is not existing. And taking graphics of map pages would cause me a lot of trouble because of the copyrights... at least in Germany
But as I said, first the whole thing has to work and be online and after that I´ll hopefully have time to think about the add ons :)

THIS indeed is planned in some way :D But it also will take some time... umm yes, its just so much work to do it all alone :(

Oooh! I've been to the one in Michigan! It's not nearly as exciting as the Hamburg in Germany though. Just a little country town with a supermarket and a gas station, about as big as Gemeinde Wacken. But it IS right next to another little town called "Hell.": :D

All in good time, my dear! Yeah, it's no easy to update such a huge webpage (hell, I have trouble keeping small ones updated  ). Your contribution to travelling metalheads everywhere is still very much appreciated. :)
