I don't know Vayu's recipe, but here is a standard one (I've taken some liberties in the translation, because I find the procedere more practical this way^^):

What u need:
250 g butter
250 g sugar
1 packet vanilla-sugar
1 pinch salt
6 eggs (medium sized)
3 tbsp. rum
150 g flour
100 g corn-flour
200 g chocolate coating
How to do
Preheat the grill at 250°C.
Line a round baking tin (26 cm) with baking paper.
1. Separate the eggs.
2. Beat the whites with the pinch of salt until stiff and put them aside for later use.
3. Whisk up the butter, sugar and vanilla-sugar in a big bowl until very frothy. Add the egg yolks and the rum and whisk again.
4. Mix the flour and the corn-flour in a separate little bowl, then sift it on the butter-sugar-egg mixture and gently fold it in.That accomplished, fold in the stiff egg whites, too.
5. Spread 2 tbsp. of the dough evenly on the bottom of the baking tin and grill it for about 1,5 minutes until the upside gets brown. Then spread the next layer of 2 tbsp. evenly on the first, grill it for 1,5 minutes, and so on. Continue until you've used up the dough. (It should make roughly 10 layers or so.)
6. Leave the cake to cool. When cold, cover the cake with the chocolate coating.
The cake is best when prepared 2 days in advance and left to rest. It keeps well and can be deep-frozen, too.
You can also do it with marzipan and Amaretto (
