Well, here I go with: La Trappe Bockbier
Details about La Trappe.
La Trappe is the Netherlands ONLY Trappist beer*. (although I doubt it as it's been taken over by Bavaria (nothing to do with the German "land"), but it's still brewed inside a monestary, and run by its brothers. They only started with "enkel" (single), double, triple, and ...... QUADRUPLE! So far, it is/was the only trappist that brewed both "enkel" as "quadruppel", now Bavaria has taken over its "commercial" site, but the beer is still brewed in the "abdij van Koningshoeven" near Tilburg (Duch-Belgian border)
Officially Bockbier is a fall/automn beer, but that doesn't stop me to drink it in spring. There are also some spring bocks (nee, geen springbokken
), but it's my opinion that you can keep a good fall bock long and its taste will only get better.
But to La Trappe Bockbier. it's a beer with 7% alc. VOL. and it has a nice clear view. (although I'm drinking it out of a bottle, so I can't really see if it's amber or real clear). It's not too strong, but has the flavour of a good bock. There is no real after taste (?).
I like it and it's a real tasty beer.
