My older brother exposed me to Led Zeppelin, Grand funk, Traffic, James Gang, Steppenwolf and others. I was always moved by the heavier stuff. Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, then a few years later, Aerosmith, Ted Nugent etc.
At school I was called Ozzy Osborne (my last name) and wondered who he was talking about so I went and bought an Album... you know the round black flat things you young ones can't seem to fit in the CD player

Hey great post, but soon they will be like, what's a CD? How do I get that into my ipod?
MAN!!!
That's my childhood
my father used to listen E Pluribus Funk and On Time a lot... and I still listen to it today, and damn if it isn't the one of the best bass/drum work I've ever listened, DAMN GOOD!
James Gang - Rides Again
Traffic - Mr. Fantasy & John Barleycorn Must Die
I love heavy metal, but I can't stop listening to these oldies

Hey
About to go to bed. Should have gone ages ago.
Great post and you are very fortunate to have a father that listens to that stuff. My nephew who will attend Wacken with me was exposed to that stuff as well, his father my brother in law listens to that stuff. And I have exposed him ( my nephew) to some metal as well. How old are you if I may ask?
