And you speak good German? How long did it take you to learn it properly? I spent 21 months in Germany, I speak almost daily with my girlfriend but I think I'll never speak that damn language properly.....

Me auch nicht, but my girlfriend is german and we always speak in German. Well, sometimes I write SMS or parts of e-mails in English, but only if I don't feel like translating

My work is all about English, so it sort of dominates....and yeah, me and hubby met each other on the Net and have been talking English all this time....
It is really funny how languages mix now as we talk...

I used to take some lessons @ the Uni (in Russia), and even had an A, but it was quite a long time ago (1995-96), so much has been lost since then. But now it comes back to life quickly (except for the pronunciation, which is still awful with me...)

I tend to use german words and structures whenever I try to speak in English.... I think there's only place for 2 languages in my head, so English muss raus!

at university I have many friends who are from Bulgaria and Poland - their pronunciation is quite good in most cases, but the grammar is far worse.

Well, by chatting is not that way, because you have those 2 seconds which allow you to think "fuck, that's a german word"

I think it was Wacken 2004 when Dittohead asked me when I had arrived, and I could only think of the word "Dienstag". I had totally forgotten about the word "tuesday", so I had to answer "two days ago"
