Wtf? There was an article on the news for an earthquake in California. 4.4 magnitude. Which is pretty much barely big enough to be felt. Might knock over a cup or so.

In a world where 10-20 5.0+ earthquakes hit every day... was that really necessary?

Hha. You may be a seasoned earthquake person but as we've never had anything like it a 4.4 I'd probably shit myself. Bloody hell, earth tremors make the news here.

Yea, if you guys had something like that it'd make more sense than California, Los Angeles area, aka earthquakeville. We had a 4.something once as long as I've been here, that making the news would have been understandable. But not in Cali.

Holy crap! Didn't realise they were that common. The one in Fiji was on the news a bit today, but i suppose that's because despite it's political turmoil it is still a holiday destination for a lot of Australians and its sort of close to home.

Makes sense. But yea they're pretty common. The one in Haiti wasn't even that strong compared to those, it just hit a bad area. That's really what makes earthquakes a big deal, where they hit.
