well UAE is abit different from other Arabic countries .. since more than 60% of the ppl here are not Arabs .. mostly Asians & Europeans

well true, but the holiday itself goes back to I believe the Pilgrims coming to the US, and they had a really big feast. and I guess they were grateful to get here safely or something.
