Agreed, keyboards work well with certain music and certain songs, but as an accent, not too dominant in the song. Some otherwise good songs have been ruined by keyboards.

Like keys work well in some epic metal, progmetal and in small doses in powermetal. I have a Ted Nugent album with some songs that would be good but the upbeat cheer sounding keys kill the songs. Van Halen's Jump is keyboard driven and pure gayness.
