my bands had our next gig cancelled by the venue because we are too heavy and they're worried they can't control the crowd. i can't see the problem - we've played there several times before, had pits going with no incident, got along well with the owner (he was even in some of the pits)
I fear it has to do with recent crackdowns by liquor licencing authorities the last year or so. Wankers go glassing each other at the casino and nightclubs and gig and rock pubs get the blame.
Dave's not happy. Grrrrrrr
I can imagine.
Sue them, ask damages etc. You could've played somewhere else otherwise so.... a damage fee is suitable in my opinion.

Haha. the owner's a pretty good dude. i'll be goin to the show anyway, mates bands are playing, they asked us to play then the venue told them we couldn't do it. I'll ask him what happened...and try to get some free booze to compensate.
