Nu ja, better late than never.

Just one tip. Go from HH airport directly to HH Altona station, NOT to Hauptbahnhof. It saves you an extra change in Elmshorn.

I just checked. All S-Bahns go to Olsdorf, there the train will be connected to another train, and continue to both Hbf and Altona. You just get of at Altona, and then to the Regional Trains. Take the one going to WESTERLAND(SYLT). I think it's track 8, but I'm not sure.
The rest is known.

It's the S1 (line number of the S-Bahn)
But I don't know how it will be signed, I've never taken S-Bahn in HH, just U-Bahn (sort of subway)

its ok i can also ask someone in the airport just to make sure in case i dont know it myself ..
