Wait, but cortison is a steroid.
And if watching doctor house has touch me anything is that you either need antibiotics OR steroids, never both.

Than again, it's a tv show so chances a high that it doesn't reflect reality :p

Cortison is a hormon like. Your own body generates cortison.
The problem with synthetic cortison (the ones made OUTSIDE the human body, by humans) is that it has nasty side effects. One of them is "blowing up".
If cortison and antibiotics mix well together? Haven't got the faintest idea. I'm not a doc.

The side effects are mostly a problem if you take cortison in a high dose for a long time - and if you take a low dose, even a long term medication can be very safe ("Cushing-Schwelle"). Taking Cortison (-> strongest anti-inflammtory drug there is) and antibiotics at the same can be the way to go, depending on the diagnosis. If your doctor prescribed both, please do not take advice from the internet but discuss it with him if your are in doubt, and do not change the dose or anything else on your own.

I take the Cortison as a spray in the nose.It is kind of "first aid" untill the antibiotic works.

Topically applied cortison - like a cream, spray or something like that is not really a problem concerning side effects, no worries. Cortison has to be taken with caution, but it is not as bad as some folks make you believe. In this case I gues it is for sinusitis, propably chronic? Makes perfect sense - cortison to reduce the swelling, antibiotics to kill of the germs.

I'm not going to take your advice. since it's on the internet and all :p

But yeah, you're right.

I might be a cortison salesperson ;)

Well, I`m not. But how could you know?
