Well, the Metal-Train is a charter train, it's sold out so I reckon it won't be overcrowded. And I am pretty much sure the RE-train to Aachen and the IR-train to Liege won't be overcrowded either. The IC to Brussels from Eupen however... ;)

The Metal-Train is not my concern, but I was in a situation last year travelling from Brussels to Nuremberg and we stopped at some random station for probably half an hour, while the conductor announced (in German only) that the train was too full, and they were offering partial refunds for people to get off and get another train. When someone finally explained to me the situation in English and that the trains come every hour, I decided to get off and get the next one. Thankfully I wasn't in any hurry that day.

That must've been an ICE connection. I've never seen that with a RE/RB connection. Though, could always happen.
