not a lot of goths over here listen to slipknot, its mostly evanescence and nightwish.

if assholes are going to ruin it then i'd prefer it if they didnt play, but beggers can't be choosers

Goths here don't listen to Nightwish really at all it's Cradle of Filth, Cannibal Corpse, Slipknot, occasionally Immortal and sometimes bands like Bullet for my Valentine. What's funny is, I ran into one that said he likes black metal, but he didn't know who any of the bands I gave him were, he didn't even know who Burzum was.

99% of the people who claim to like metal here don't know who Burzum is. Only hot topic bands, and sadly hot topic is advertising Paganfest and it fills the venue up with them. Doesn't make a very good group of people to speak to, what the hell do you talk about to people like that :D they aren't a very good crowd either. I used to go into the mosh pit until it filled up with kids who try to punch me in the face.

so basically they don't know Burzum, they might not know Anaal Nathrakh, high chance they don't know Summoning. Hell ,these people are missing out. Even Nevermore can pull a proper moshpit, probably cos not a lot of teenagers (13-17) have heard of Nevermore

It's not even the age that matters. I know plenty of kids who are great at shows, but I know a lot of adults who are just jackasses.

And, there's a high chance they don't know Anaal Nathrakh and it's almost impossible for them to know Summoning seeing they don't even know who Darkthrone is. They know Moonspell because they toured with Dimmu and Satyricon because they toured with Cradle, but that's as far as they go.

Damn, maybe the adults just want the crap beaten into them:(

What do these people do in their spare time, huddle in a corner with Death Cult Armageddon on repeat? Even i've got a wider music taste than them, but i KNOW i'm a metalhead, they just think it to be cool, which they sound like they're failing at

There are still some great mosh pits around. Just not those for 'young people's bands'. The pit for Exodus at Wacken last year was fantastic. One of the most dangerous I've been in but no one was trying to hurt each other. Everyone was catching others and helping them up. You don't see that enough with the younger crowds these days.

i don't know, i nearly got crushed in a mosh in the CIA when Testament were playing and some bald guy picked me up and was like "stop messing about and fucking hit someone" that was fun:D

They usually just run around the mall with corpse paint on. For a short time I thought it was kinda cool when I was like, 14, but that was just a phase and it ended once I discovered Blind Guardian :)

The Exodus pit here was great. So was Destruction. There are great pits here and most of the people here are in their late teens to early 20's. Paganfest 1 was the best pit I had been in. Violent, but nobody was trying to hurt each other and people got picked up and such. Unlike when Dragonforce came, I went to see Turisas, I ended up taking a few fists to the face by some guitar hero kid who probably never saw a mosh pit before in his life. I kept trying to help people up but I'd just end up with some kid trying to stop me.

I avoided the pit with Testament here even though it wasn't full of kids. I was up on the balcony taking photos. Which I might add came out really good despite the camera being 5 years old.

When did people decide that doing bad kickboxing demonstrations in a pit was a cool thing to do? I must have missed that vote. Saw it end really badly a couple of times.

I haven't seen much of bad kickboxing demonstration, but I've seen the "Get this swarm of insects off me" dance done.

I think that happened with the rise of American hardcore.

Hahaha. I've never heard it called it that. I'm using it next time this comes up in a convesrsation.
Every time I see someone doing that I think of The Simpsons episode where Bart and Lisa are fighting upstairs.
"Alright well I'm going to walk around the room swinging my arms like this and if you happen to get hit it's your own fault".
