I think we try and be the type of person our new boyfriend/girlfriend want, but in the end we go back to being ourselves. When I realised what my ex was like I didn't try and change him (it never works) I just 'set him free'.

Good of you seeing that - still my biggest problem with girls, I guess. They got this image of me and somehow try to be perfect to that image. I don't want that, I mean changing (or trying to change) in some points for your partner is a good thing, but there is noone "perfect" around for me.

IMHO there is nothing "perfect"....is all a near to and/or compromise...it also depends what you value about a boy-/girlfriend...accepting the other as they are and supporting them is a good thing..which also means that they tell you when they think you've done something shitty/not acceptable and vice versa and finding a way/solution...

Right. I mean, hooray for differences! What is the problem with that?

I think that in any serious relationship, you both end up "changing" the other person to some small extent, whether voluntarily or not. You know, tiny little changes in personality and stuff like that. But you can't change the core of a human being, and you shouldn't even try to. All you should really bhope for is to find another personality who is as compatible with yours as humanly possible.

and my biggest problem is finding a girl who doesn't feel like she has to be my second mother. That's the WORST.
