Even though I'm American,I know very little Russian(my father & grandparents are from Russia).

I got to practise my Russian at Wacken this year...one of my mates met a Russian chick who lives in Berlin (I think) plus I met the editor of a Russian metal mag and his partner! Really cool. They even gave me a couple of editions of the mag to read

strangely enough, a few of the Germans I met at Wacken told me they had an easier time understanding my American English than Brit English. Though your "chewing-gum" comment confirms my suspicion that Europeans think of "South Bronx New York" and "southern country bumpkin" as the typical American accents.

Regardless, English spoken in a distinctly French accent is a good way to get laid here!
