Well, lucky you! It's just a test.
And out of (bad) experience I had in Hellfest (2015-16) I'm no longer a big fan of it!

Why introduce a seperate cashless system, where there is already "Contactless payment"? I've got it on my CC and my (Dutch) bank card! And within a "unified" Europe, why can't I use these cards then???

And it's the bad aftertaste of refunding that I still have. (Cl 15-16, HF, no refunds possible)

I'm waiting for feedback from you all. I'm curious!

yeah that was my first thought to.
I just wanna pay with my debitcard.
it already works fine in every store over here. so why wouldn't it work on the festival.

Now I would first have to transfer money to paypal, than buy the damn thing, get a QR code, show the QR code to somebody/machine and get the actual card which I can use to pay with... way to much of a hassle

I don't think the cashless thing is a bad idea, if they find a way to make it simple.

For people from outside Europe it is not as easy as people from Europe to use our CC or bank account cards. There are fees every time we use them and also fees for the currency exchange every transactions. So the only way to avoid this is to have a lot of cash instead of using those cards, I really don't mind carrying cash but maybe with that one card they wanna try it will remove the need of having a good amount of cash on the festival ground.

But realistically, how many % of the people visiting are from outside of Europe?

And we europeans already have a debit card for that purpose which we can't use at the festival.
So I rather have them fix that first.

I really couldn't say the %, I was just thinking of that because it is my situation, but I understand a majority of people doesn't have that ''problem''.

I'm a 100% thinking the same as you, it is kinda dumb that it's not possible to use debit card/CC on the festival ground, but I guess there is a logistic/cost reasons to this, it would cost them a lot to have that many terminals for cards and it would be slow as hell to have beer/food.

It's a good thing to test that cashless thing, but even if it works really well they should also keep the possibility to pay with cash.

Having terminals for their own card might even be more expensive.

And it most definitely won't be slower. because A. they won't have to get the change money, and B. I just have to hold my debit card against the terminal and it is paid.

and nothing have a CC option is understandable. in europe CC aren't used a lot.
I don't know anybody who uses one within the netherlands. everybody I know only uses it to buy stuff from abroad, or when they are on a holiday.

Actually, you can charge it once with, let's say, €100. That means only fees and exchange rate once!

And people outside €uro zone? More than you might think! The UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, US, Canada and Australia are a few examples of countries not using the euro.

And paying by card is difficult in Germany. They prefer cash.

Yeah, for example when I visit mom, my card doesn't work there. I have to use cash. Well, at least it didn't work in the grocery shop.
Yep. Same here. They looked at it as if it were a ghost thing.

Thinking about it. the last time I was in germany my card wasn't accepted at the hotel even though it should have been working in the whole of europe.
So I called my bank and they changed something. after that I payed with my card everywhere without any problems.

Yes of course people could charge it once, but it has nothing to do with paying every beer/food with it... If you use your bank account card with paypass/contactless you pay for what you're buying (ex. a beer for 4euro)
That's why I said the cashless card could be a good idea, you charge it and use it everytime you buy something without any more fees for every transactions.

But in the end I really don't mind carrying cash so it doesn't matter if they add that feature or terminals for CC/bank cards :p
