When I went travelling in France/Switzerland, I heard it quite often that people would like to leave though

europe is just so crowded. specially western europe.
whereever I look there's always a building "in the way".
When I was in south africa I could see the horizon pretty much all the time.

Yeah I get what you means, that's pretty much the main reason I heard too, too many people for the size of the territory.
In Canada it is the opposite, and that is what struck me the most when I went to Europe the first time. For exemple the size of apartments was ridiculous for the price people pay.

paying $600 a month to sleep on a couch or $1,000
to pitch a tent in a backyard.
